Baby it's cold outside

Well, it has been too long since I have posted some nonsense, so I thought since I had to rack my brain to remember my login and then where the hell I had a blog so I could post something on a friends blog, that I would post something.

It's cold out now. The last time I posted it was summer. It is fall now. We had about an inch of snow overnight. It was very pretty. I always like the first snow, though this was not a big one. By January, I am over the prettiness of the snow. I don't ski or do any other winter sports, so I just end up hating winter. But, I do hear that snowshoeing is a lot of fun. I think I could manage to do that without hurting myself. Maybe someone will take me on their snowmobile. That would be fun.

Ohhhh, the 'performance fleece' hoodies at Old Navy really have very little fleece. They used to be warm and snuggly and all fleecy. Not anymore. They have a wee amount of fleece on the inside. The outside is a sweatshirt material. I feel like I have been ripped off. So, since I ordered one for myself and a new winter coat for Britt (which is too small) and one for Frank, I think we are heading to Gaylord this weekend to the Old Navy store there to return them. We were going to go to Petoskey to get a new Christmas tree at Home Depot, but since there is a Home Depot AND an Old Navy in Gaylord, we may head there. Though I still need to hit Petoskey to go to Pier One.

Wow, this is pretty riveting. Maybe I can tell you about my latest bowel movement! I mean do you really care about what stores I may go to this weekend? But, if you are reading this then maybe you do!!

I think my dad is finally out of panic mode for the day!!

I suppose

Well, I guess I am going to try to post a blog everyday. Since I am currently the only person reading it, I have to keep myself amused somehow, right?!

I'm still waiting for a call about our car. Even though I can't down there until Thursday, I want to know that it's done. Boy will I be pissed if it is not done by then. I really don't want to make another trip there, unless of course they want to front me some money for gas!!

I am planning a baby shower for my darling friends Jane. She and her hubby will be coming up here in August (they live in Virginia Beach, VA.) and she wants to be able to have all her friends and family from here to be able to go to her baby shower. At first I was a little intimidated by doing it. But, my dad suggested that I call Karl's Cuisine (a local catering company and restaurant) and have them make the food. I have never thrown a baby shower, so I had no idea what to do for food. All the showers I have been to have been at a restaurant or country club. We want to have little shindig in her mom-in-laws yard. They are right on the water, so it would be perfect. Which reminds me, I have to call her and ask her if that would be ok with them!

Anyway, I am thinking maybe some nice appetizers, finger foods and stromboli for the main entree. I know they do dessert very well. I will also have a nice cake made too. I am pretty excited about it.

If anyone has any suggestions for things we should do there, I am all ears!!

Car Woes

Ok, so Frank and I just went down to Traverse City last Saturday to have our car fixed for a warranty item. For those of you that know northern Michigan, you know that Cedarville and Traverse City are 3 hours away from each other. With gas being $4.25 a gallon here, I was none too thrilled to have to drive there.

So, fast forward to this past Saturday. I was driving down the road and reached up to put my visor down because it was sunny and I heard a "thunk" noise. At first I thought something had hit the car. But, I looked at my lap and saw my seat belt in a pile. I tried everything I could think of to fix it. Nope.

Today I called our dealership in Traverse City and they said I could try to call another GM dealer that is closer to see if they will work on it, but they didn't think they would. So, I called the dealer in the Soo (which is about 35 miles away) and Petoskey (which is about 7o miles away). Neither one of them would work on it.

Finally, I called Saturn Roadside. A handy little service that we have for the duration of our factory warranty. They sent someone from Rudyard to tow the car to Traverse City, which is the closest Saturn dealer. How lame is that? Don't get me wrong, I am glad the service is available, but how much will that cost them? We wonder why cars are so expensive!!

So, our poor car is down in Traverse being worked on, again. The crappy thing is I have to go down there to pick it up when it's done. That wouldn't be such a bad thing, I do like to go there, but gas is so damn expensive. Oh well, I guess it is better than having to shell the money out to have it fixed. I don't know about everyone else, but it seems that I can never get anything done at the mechanics under $200.

That is my current woe. Not the end of the world, but irritating nonetheless.

We had a nice weekend though. I cleaned and painted a window for my mom and dad. It was really warm this weekend. We even managed to have bonfire on Saturday night. So, that was nice.

Everyone have a splendarific day :)

Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I hope you enjoy it here.

Truth be told, I post whatever is on my mind at that particular time. If I am thinking about toilet paper, you may just read about it in here.

I also have a blog on 'myspace.' I have been on there for awhile now. I got it because my daughter wanted a 'myspace' and I didn't want her to have one without me being a friend on there.

Since this is my first blog on here, I will make it a short one. I mean really, no one wants to know about ALL the mundane things in my life, right?!

I bid everyone a great day and a better tomorrow :)
